As diretrizes curriculares e a formação específica em jornalismo

This essay aims at discussing the formal training in journalism taking into account the National Curricular Guidelines for Journalism approved by the Federal Council of the Ministry of Education (MEC) in February 2013. In order to accomplish this goal, it is described the historical background for setting the courses of Journalism and Social Communications both in Brazil and The United States; besides, the curricular proposals of Unesco and Ciespal regarding both courses are put into context. The methodology used is based on bibliographical research as well as historiographical method for social and political contextualization of formal training in journalism. Keywords
