Robert Bresson em ritmo de batuque
Palavras-chave
Though French director Robert Bresson has been constantly associated to a “spiritual cinema”, in his film Four nights of a dreamer (1972), it was more remarkable to us the transcultural aspect, which is present in its music, with songs in Portuguese by the Angolan-Brazilian group Batuki, rock and other songs in English. That diegetic music functions also as a landmark of the contemporaneity of the film. Actually, the Batuki makes a curious connection between Bresson and Brazilian cinema because of the presence of singer Marku Ribas (from Batuki) in recent Brazilian production. The transculturality of the songs can be observed in the analysis of their lyrics: they refer to the feelings of the main characters in the film and, at the same time, bring to it farther references.
