A qualidade de "O homem sem qualidades"de Robert Musil
Palavras-chave
The acknowledgment that the Viennese modernity elaborated questions and answers which are still pertinent to the understanding of our contemporary reality is also applicable to the master piece The Man without Qualities , written by the Austrian author Robert Musil and analysed in this article. This Man without Qualities is seen as a prototype to the modern world which is marked by the erosion of the unique, the "loss of individuality" or the radical questioning of the subject. The alienation of the individual which no longer exists as an unfragmented substance is also true to the mass society as a whole. This fragmented view of rationalised, functionalised modern societies implies the existence of definitions of reality which are unabridgable and unshared; from this stems a communication impass which is a consequence of the lack of congruence of the basic standards of interpretations and relevance systems.
