Veneno hipnótico: representações publicitárias e sociabilidade feminina
Palavras-chave
The goal of this work is to analyze, from the discourse of young college students (female), some of the representations of woman on perfume’s advertisements and their importance as a means of female sociability. In this research it was possible to verify that such ads follow predominantly two major patterns to represent women: in the first one, the woman appears in a condition in which is “beyond human” — blooming as a flower, crying pearls —; in the second one, she appears in very seductive scenes, in erotic poses. The ad under scrutiny emphasizes the latter pattern – that pictures woman as being seductive –, though it also contains elements that characterize a woman who is beyond human. This paper intends to interpret some of the meanings that compose the universe of representations of women in advertising and the manners in which these representations are activated in the daily processes of socialization.
