This article discusses, using the analysis of two recent documentaries by the director e journalist Evaldo Mocarzel, the central role that the interview has occupied in that kind of film. Raising criticism from Jean-Claude Bernardet and Bill Nichols to this way of rhetorical strategy, the text tries to show that the hegemony of interviewing emanates from the power of television over the other midia and that it allows the director not to take sides or risks. At one hand, that reflects the persistent faith in the existence of a reality waiting to be revealed. At another, it challenges the very essence of documentary movies. Key-words
