To insist on the criteria of noticiability as capable of explaining the reasons for certain happenings turn into news seems to us limiting. Alternatively, we have sought to understand that happenings are newsworthy when gather some social and historical conditions, which has enabled us to open broader perspectives on the ways in which journalism negotiates meanings with other social actors. As from that approach are important questions like fonts heard in the production of news, the articulations around the notions of narrative, the imbrications of memory in journalistic texts, among other neglected variables when the priority focus in the criteria of noticiability. The article works with narratives on the interconnections between HIV/AIDS and homophobia in three newspapers: Estado de Minas, O Globo and Folha de S.Paulo, collected between January 2011 and January 2013.
