Foot-ball Mulato e o imaginário nacional: a atmosfera de sentidos da Copa de 1938

Resumo
Este artigo tem como objetivo indicar a influência do gênero crônica na elaboração e solidificação de um imaginário nacional em torno do futebol e na proliferação de seus sentidos na sociedade. Elegemos como objeto de estudo o artigo Foot-ball Mulato escrito pelo sociólogo Gilberto Freyre no Diário de Pernambuco no dia 17 de junho de 1938, em meio a realização da Copa do Mundo do mesmo ano. Procuramos compreender através da análise de narrativas (MOTTA, 2013) como Freyre projeta um mundo selecionando ações e articulando-as com o imaginário nacional para reforçar seu pensamento da miscigenação como algo positivo e tendo o sucesso da seleção brasileira de futebol no torneio como exemplo mais fulgurante.

Abstract
This article aims to indicate the influence of the chronic genre in the elaboration and solidification of a national imaginary around football and in the proliferation of its meaning in society. We chose as object of study the article Foot-ball Mulato written by the sociologist Gilberto Freyre in the Diário de Pernambuco on June 17, 1938, during the World Cup of the same year. We seek to understand through narrative analysis (MOTTA, 2013) how Freyre projects a world selecting actions and articulating them with the national imagination to reinforce his thinking of miscegenation as something positive and having the success of the Brazilian football team in the tournament as its more emblematic example.
