The aim of this paper is to analyze two Brazilian films – Bye, Bye Brazil (1979) and O caminho das nuvens (2003), linking them to the main characterizations format of the road movie and its inter-relationship the novel training (Bakhtin), which puts them on the border between narrative genres. These films are linked, thematically, to the narratives of migration, however, in formal terms, the strongest bond is mainly with the road movie in various aspects. They are the journey more important than the arrival at a destination, the questioning of institutions, the trope of the caravan, the confrontation of cultural otherness, if not ethnic, home and stability as oppressive and confining escape the responsibility of a certain domesticity, the above interaction of cultural differences, as the journey of discovery and self-discovery and Other , traveling through a country, the contrast between tradition and modernity in the hinterlands and celebrations of masculinity.
