Ruptura e continuidade no documentário brasileiro: 1959-1962

This paper analyses a group of Brazilian documentary short films (among them Aruanda and Arraial do Cabo) produced from 1959 to 1962, when intense changes are supposed to have occurred in Brazilian Cinema. This analysis focus attention (from the perspective of documentary creation conditions) on the issues of transformations in realism conventions, in documentary stylistic resources and in available technologies. The central objective is to enhance, not only ruptures, but also lines of continuity in the analyzed films and the former documentary production in Brazil. Key-words
