This article intends to analyze the journalistic coverage given by the four main brazilian national newspapers "O Globo, Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo and Jornal do Brasil" to the main presidential candidates in 2002. By analyzing the number of times the name of each candidate appears on the news (visibility) and evaluating if the news in which they appear are positive, negative or neutral (evaluation), we obtain some variations along time, which we then will try to explain observing the different attitude each newspaper adopts, at each campaign turning point, towards the candidates.
